The Teeth – Homewrecker. A review of sorts.

UPDATE: Preorder the album by clicking here!

Look, I’m not a professional reviewer of things.  I’m a guy who likes stuff he likes, and also talks about stuff he likes.  A lot.  I can’t help it. So when I run across something I really dig, I pretty much have to tell everyone I know.  Good thing this podcast and blog came along to help me do that, right?! Right?

Ok, now that that’s out of the way, I wanted to take a minute or two to let you know about a band that I really like, and their new album.  They are called The Teeth, and god damn, I can’t get enough of them. The style is a little difficult to describe.  They’re not hardcore, or metal, or good old fashioned rock and roll.  They’re kind of a mix of the three.  I would personally say that if you’re a fan of Every Time I Die, you’d dig them.

Now, the album:  Homewrecker.  From the first track until the last, it’s heavy duty.  I am trying so hard to not describe it with overly used terms, mainly because they’re used to the point that they really don’t mean much anymore.  Every album is the heaviest album EVAR, and every break down is the sickest. But shit, there is really no way to talk about this album without calling it super heavy, super rocking, and flat-out ill.  Kids still say “ill”, right?

Bottom Line: I can safely say that this is my new favorite album, and I can’t wait until you can hear it and talk about it.

Homewrecker will be released on Rock Paper Records on August 14th. Until then, how about you watch their video for the single, Bulletproof?

Enjoy it, Outcasts.

Hero Of Today – A Sort-Of Review

Hey Outcasts. Bill here. I just wanted to do a quick post in regards to the Desolation Films flick, Hero Of Today.

I recently purchased the digital copy of Hero Of Today and, without shame, I can tell you that I’ve have watched it four times since. Matter of fact, I’m probably going to watch it again once I’m done with this post, actually. Yeah, I dig it that much.

It’s not just another zombie flick. At all. It’s a story of a guy who goes from underdog to bad ass, just the way I (and probably you) would hope things would go for me if something like this actually happened. Sure, it’s got some (minimal) rough edges, just like pretty much anything else I’ve ever watched, but damn, does it pay off! There’s some good scares, a bit of gore (I may be understating that) quotable lines, and a good amount of laughs. It hits all the sweet spots near and dear to my heart: zombies, horror, humor, and well, there’s this line that made me actually shout, “YES!! BAD ASS!” when I heard it. If you’re a geek like me, you’ll have the same reaction.

Being a fan of Desolations Films’ work since I was exposed to it a few years ago, I was happy to get the opportunity to actually watch the flick again recently. Let me tell you, it really held up! I was so happy to watch again, and I really hope that you folks give it a shot.

Currently, if you head to the Desolation Films website, you can purchase your digital copy right now for $1.99. Worth every single cent, and then some.

You can listen to our interview with Desolation Films’ James Mattern and Chad Renn right here.

p.s. Chester needs a prequel. You’ll see what I mean.

Self Help For Nerds Like Us

Outcasts!  I just wanted to hop on here real quick and let you know about a really great book that has a lot of great information to help nerds like us, for lack of a better term, get our shit together.

It’s called “The Nerdist Way” and it’s written by Chris Hardwick.  Yeah, that Chris Hardwick.  It’s basically a blueprint to help you take the things that make us nerds (including, but not limited to our curse…er…ability to categorize and obsess over everything) and make those things work for our benefit.

It’s a great read, and an even better AUDIO BOOK!  I mean, it’s read by Chris himself, so if you’re a fan, you’ll enjoy it immensely!

It’s probably best to direct you to his site, nerdist.com, to pick it up.

Enjoy, folks!

My slow carb breakfast

Hey folks, just figured I’d share a recipe that I picked up from the author of 4-Hour Body, Tim Ferriss. This isn’t something from the book, but rather something I saw him post on YouTube. After trying it once, I decided then and there: This is my new favorite breakfast.

What you need:

Frozen Spinach (yes, they make bags of it. Don’t buy the bricks, it adds time and hassle. Who wants to cut a block of spinach up for BREAKFAST?)

2-3 eggs (Tim recommends egg whites in a jug, like Egg Beaters. I’m too poor to spend that much on egg whites. Plus, if you want the yolks gone, use a fancy yolk catcher. They’re a few bucks, but it’s up to you.)

Salsa (Get mild, it’s the fucking morning.)

Preparation: Put some frozen spinach in a microwave safe bowl. I don’t know jack or shit about portions. Let’s face it though, you know how much you can eat. Throw that in te microwave for 1:30.

Take it out, put the eggs in with the spinach(I usually spread it out evenly, and break my yolks up), and throw that in the microwave for about 2 minutes, or until the eggs aren’t runny anymore.

Spoon out some salsa on them shits.

Delicious, fools!

Best thing is that it’s practically a 5 minute breakfast.

So, questions? Ideas on other low/no carb meals that are quick, cheap, easy? Break us off a comment!
